REVIEWS
Stands out in a mansion full of games and zombies....

Resident Evil DS is incredible, thats about all that can be truely justified.
They crammed a PS1 game into a tiny DS cartridge with all new features and even multiplayer.
You all know the story by now (i highly doubt you'd be viewing it if you didn't!) So i'm not going to bother with the small print.
I waited for Resi DS for a whole year, i knew every scrap of news and every shot like the back of my own hand. BUt, it got to the stage where i was so excited that i began to think that, dispite my resi-fanboy-isam, it'd never live up to the hype of being the orginial game and have multiplayer on such a small cartridge.
It was a fifty-fifty thing in the end, the single player remains to this day one of the best 'mature' adventures in videogames and still manages to send shivvers up my spine at the sight of a giant spider spitting toxic.
And the revamped 'Rebirth' mode is just incredible, using the DS primery functions such as the mic to give the kiss of life to a fallen team-mate, to using your styless as a knife, the rebirth mode is awesome.
But, where it falls to fifty fifty, is the multiplayer.
Theres two modes, co-op, where up to four people work together to rid the mansion of zombies and hunters, and a mode i can't remember the name of, where four players battle it out to kill the m,ost monsters, and when all zombies are dead, the winner is the person with the most points.
The co-op is absoloutly brilliant fun and is some of the best multiplyer on DS, but the vs mode is pretty bad.
But what really lets it down is the fact you can't see the other players on yoiur screen, they just apper as arrows!
All i all, the 'deffinitive' version of Resi 1, for people who want to relive the golden days of the PLaystations masterpiece.

Resident Evil DS

Despite being a huge fan of the remake version for the gamecube, I felt I had to add this to my DS collection. I think the DS version is a well refreshed version of a classic game. I quite liked the rebirth mode in this game, being faced with a load of zomies armed with just your knife can be a bit daunting at first but easy once you get the hang of it. The best feature of this game has got to be the fact you can skip the door opening sequences saving time and preventing impatience. The map being constanly available at on the top screen was also a welcome addition as seeing where you have and haven't been is so much easier. Although once you have the infinite rocket launcher quite a few of the rooms become unnessecary to visit. This game gets five stars from me because it is and always will be in my book a classic. A must have for any resident evil fan with a DS.

BEST DS GAME EVER !!!!!

When i brought this game i thought it was going to be cheesy and really really bad but i was wrong better than the ps1 version and better sound also has co-op and versus multiplay * * * * *

Is it any good?!?! does it work?!!

Well its superb. theres no bad camera, theres no long boring text to read just pure resident evil. the sounds is excellent the graphics are faultless for the experience. if youve played on the ps back in the 90's buy this game cause its better than you remembered. its better than most rubish that they just pump out now this was made when game designers had to fight to get there name noticed and for capcom this is the game that did it. if youve not played this game than simply put your ds was bought by you to experience what a perfect balanced game is. in the last fifteen years there were some games made that were ten years a head of them selves this is one of them period!!!!

Back from the Dead

The original Resident Evil was a surprise hit on the Playstation back in 1996 and now, 10 years later, the survival horror classic returns on the Nintendo DS.

In Resident Evil, a rescue group goes missing and a back-up team is sent to Raccoon City in an attempt to rescue them. Unfortunately for them, the place where the group dissappeared is now populated by flesh-eating zombies due to a virus that has escaped.

You take the role of one of two S.T.A.R.S members - Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine, who have to search the mansion in order to find out what has happened to the missing team and why the undead are now making a meal of the local population.
In the search you will come across zombies, dogs, crows, mutant reptiles, sharks and finally The Tyrant, all who want a piece of your flesh.

The first thing you will notice when switching on RE:DS is that graphically it is nearly identical to the original Playstation version, which is quite an acheivement for the DS. All of the cheesy cut-scenes are there as well as the awful voice-acting, but it all adds to the atmosphere of this B-movie inspired horror classic.

There are also two modes of play in this DS version. First is the original mode, which is basically the same as the old Playstation version. The controls are fairly straight-forward, using the D-pad to walk about and aim. Hold the X button to run and the B button to examine or to shoot (with the R trigger).
And then there is the DS-exclusive Rebirth Mode, which is a sort of remix of the original game and also includes touchscreen puzzles and has places where zombies will attach you, with your only knife as a defence (which you use the stylus to slash at them).

Deadly Silence doesn't take too long to finish, especially if you have played the original before. But it still a great game to play again and has seemed to have stood the test of time pretty well.

For players who haven't ever tried this before, or have played Resident Evil 4, this may feel like a bit of a step in the wrong direction and they maybe better off trying out the remake that came out for the Gamecube back in 2002.
